In the past forty years in which Ton Kalle visited Texel he saw a growing number of boulders. Fishermen caught them in their nets. In this way the sea gives her boulders to the island. Some time ago he noticed that Rijkswaterstaat (department of works) imported a great amount of basalt from Germany to protect the island from the sea. So stones are also given to the sea. An exchange of just the two types of stone he works with. The idea for an exhibition was born: Sculptures of Stone on Texel.

The exhibition consists of two parts:
Constellations of stars:
Starshaped sculptures at the bottom of the church-towers. When it is dark there is no light-pollution so it is easier to see the stars. The church-towers, in many forms, underline the connection with the heaven above.

Sculptures in the landscape:
They seem to roam all over the landscape and try to connect with it in form, title and feeling. From June 10 till July 10 Ton Kalle is at work on the Hoge Berg (high mountain) at de Hallerweg. This hill has shaped the outline of the Dutch landscape. Filled with boulders, gravel, loam and sand it rises 17 meters above the flat countryside. Solid enough to withstand and give shape to the currents. Around this place The Netherlands were formed. A place of origin: And with boulders!

Constellation of stars alternate with sculptures in the landscape in both the cycle-routes.
